Nestlé Young Scientist Award

Call for Nominations
ICEF13 is pleased to announce the Nestlé Young Scientist Award to recognise excellence of scientists in the early stage of their careers in food science and engineering.

The purpose of the award is to stimulate researchers for excellent contributions to food science and engineering with a demonstrated potential for translation into innovative products and services in the food industry.

Award Entitlements
There will be in total 2 awards.

The awards consist of prize money of $1,000 AUD and a travel grant to visit Nestlé Research facilities in Lausanne, Switzerland.

Conditions: round trip economy class flight ticket, accommodation for up to three nights and airport transfers by train, allowance for meals and local transport costs from the accommodation to the facility.

Eligibility
Candidates must be in their early stage of scientific careers. This means at the time of ICEF 13 candidates must be enrolled as students in good standing in a PhD program in the field of food science and engineering in any university worldwide, or must have obtained their PhD degree in the field of food science and engineering not longer than three years ago.

Awardees will be selected amongst those attendees delivering an oral presentation during ICEF13.

Selection Criteria
• Academic excellence of candidate (provide recent academic transcripts, list of publications)
• Scientific excellence: Level of scientific challenge tackled by candidate
• Demonstrated potential for translation into innovative food products & services: Candidate must provide convincing evidence that the scientific discovery can be used to overcome current challenges in the agri-food-nutrition sector, and/or can be translated into a product, process or service and must show innovativeness /novelty of solution and relevance to market needs
• Environmental sustainability: Evidence and quality of contribution to sustainable nutrition or food security
• Entrepreneurship: Evidence and quality of entrepreneurial steps planned or already taken to turn the idea into reality.

Application Process
Candidates must apply using the submission template and send their application dossier to the Congress Office at icef13@wsm.com.au by Monday 15 July 2019.

Evaluation Process
Applications will be evaluated by members from the ICEF13 Organising Committee and a Nestlé representative

Presentation of Awards
Awards will be granted by a representative from Nestlé during the closing session on Thursday 24 September 2019.

Additional Conditions
ICEF13 and Nestlé shall have full discretion to select award recipients or to withhold any award in case no application fulfils the requirements. With submission of the application, the applicant accepts these conditions.


SCI Seligman APV Travel Bursary

Call for Nominations
ICEF13 is pleased to announce the SCI Seligman APV Travel Bursary.

The SCI Seligman APV Travel Bursary is designed to support the career development of PhD students, postdoctoral researchers and industrial researchers, by helping them to broaden their vision and share cutting-edge knowledge at international conferences or laboratory visits.

In this way, the SCI Seligman APV Trust helps young engineers learn from, and network with, prominent food engineers from around the world.

Award Entitlements
There will be in total three awards.

The award consists of prize money of $1,000 GBP cover either partly or fully economy travel and attendance of ICEF13 in Melbourne, Australia.

Conditions: round trip economy class flight ticket, accommodation for up to four nights and airport transfers by train.

Eligibility
• Candidates must be in their early stage of scientific careers or returning after an (at least 6 months) career break (e.g. maternity leave)
• Candidates must be enrolled as students in good standing in a PhD program in the field of food science and engineering in any university worldwide, or must have obtained their PhD degree in the field of food science and engineering not longer than three years ago (excluding potential career breaks)

Awardees will be selected amongst those attendees delivering an oral or poster presentation during ICEF13.

Candidates must apply using the online application form via the SCI website and send their application dossier to awards@soci.org by Tuesday 30 April 2019.

Evaluation Process
Applications will be evaluated by the APV Seligman Trustees.

Presentation of Award
• The recipients will be informed via email by Wednesday 15 May 2019.
• The awards will be granted during the closing session on Thursday 24 September 2019.


Young Food Engineer Award provided by Elsevier’s Journal of Food Engineering

Call for Nominations
ICEF13 is pleased to announce the Young Food Engineer Award provided by Elsevier’s Journal of Food Engineering.

This prestigious award is presented only every four years for an individual who has demonstrated high quality scientific and/or industrial productivity, evidence of leadership and acting as an inspirational role model.

Award Entitlements
There will be in total one award.

The award consists of prize money of $1,000 AUD.

Eligibility
• The candidate must have made an outstanding achievement/contribution in the field of Food Engineering
• The candidate has demonstrated high quality scientific and/or industrial productivity, evidence of leadership, and acting as an inspirational role model
• The candidate must not be older than 40 years as of the 26 of September 2019

Awardees will be selected amongst those attendees delivering an oral presentation during ICEF13.

Application Process
Candidates must apply using the submission template and send their application dossier to the Congress Office at icef13@wsm.com.au by Tuesday 30 April 2019.

Evaluation Process
Applications will be evaluated by the IAEF Executive and one representative as nominated by Elsevier’s Journal of Food Engineering.

Presentation of Award
The award will be granted by a representative from Elsevier during the closing session on Thursday 24 September 2019.

Additional Conditions
ICEF13 and Elsevier shall have full discretion to select award recipients or to withhold any award in case no application fulfils the requirements. With submission of the application, the applicant accepts these conditions.
